All of the following photos were shot with an iPhone and (most with) the natural light of the sun.
All editing and image corrections were part of an experimentation process.
Said edits were done on the same editing feature found in the iPhone and a photography mobile app by the name of VSCO.
with that said, small portions of my summer are compiled by the following frames...

A short explanation of what the photos are about:
Three different forms of life in three different days. Studied from vicinity of a backyard.
A squirrel holds a raw tortilla & prepares to jump. A stray cat waits to be fed. Ladybug takes a sunbath on fingertip.
Why should we care about what we see:
A lot of the times we don't take the time to look around at the life around us. We just pass with our headphones plugged in and miss the sights. These organisms have a life of their own and you may be able to see their lives and how silly or aesthetically pleasing they may be.
What are you trying to show us in the photo:
I was trying to capture everyday specimens of life and how each is telling their own story if you stop and sit to watch them for a second.

A short explanation of what the photos are about:
Observations of the lost items left to be 'eaten' by the greenery of the grass.
A nursery object absorbing moist of the grass it lays upon. A religious sculpture with a black eye and half its body buried underground. A beat-up and coverless Bible under the shadow of a tree.
Why should we care about what we see:
Each piece has a purpose and these items have lost their sense of purpose since they have been left behind to the pity of mother nature. Their forms are slowly being taken away from them as they will not be reclaimed by their owners who may have accidentally (or maybe not) forgotten about them.
What are you trying to show us in the photo:
With the images above I was trying to show that small things around the neighborhood carry a latent metaphor of the human condition and how they easily forget about things that once brought them comfort.

A short explanation of what the photos are about:
I needed to hand wash this shirt and I noticed the contrast of the colors when the water hit the material. Perhaps underwater "feels".
Why should we care about what we see:
How can one answer this question? Truthfully speaking I am also unsure as to why you would care about a photo of me washing a thrifted shirt...
What are you trying to show us in the photo:
I was trying to capture the softness of the shirt and the contrast of the hues when water hit the cloth. Plus I like taking images of water as long as they're not direct bodies of water.

A short explanation of what the photos are about:
Another day in the life of this teenager approaching adulthood. We don't have a washer/dryer at home so we resort to using the public laundromat every other weekend. These are on my usual path of sight as I walk around the place.
An undefined shadow. Brightly hued laundry bags waiting to be emptied. Broken baskets in nude.
Why should we care about what we see:
I am unsure as to why these pictures matter. It's simply a record of another laundry day. There's some sort of peace that lies in the photographs if that's something worth mentioning.
What are you trying to show us in the photo:
I was trying to show the viewer what a day in my life can be like. The way everyone does their laundry differs and this one was mine.

A short explanation of what the photos are about:
This day was designated to shop for groceries. My parents usually drive to "El Rey" for traditional culinary ingredients however I didn't photograph much of the food that day.
Flanes con gelatina in cups. Three homes on the opposite street from El Rey with the sun kissing their soft and fading hues. A lucky shot of a Paletero who's name I wished I knew.
Why should we care about what we see:
Since a good amount of the days seem to be bitter for a lot of people I thought that photographing sweet and soft colored sceneries would communicate a sense of sweetness between all the bitterness as to say "Hey! Life is what you make out of it so pay attention to these things once in a while please ;)"
What are you trying to show us in the photo:
Another day through my eyes...and also showcasing the progress that I am making with my photography skills while following through these "100 pictures for the summer" project

A short explanation of what the photos are about:
Once in a while our family goes out to eat. Our usual places for dinner or lunch will then be a cultural pot of either Chinese or Mexican restaurants.
Two paper dragons face a round chandelier as a man takes dinner by himself. A young girl observes the different bills taped to the wall. Waiting for a late night meal while looking out the highly decorated windows of the "local".
Why should we care about what we see:
Because these photos offer a window to the solidarity of old age while peeking at the curiosity of the youth towards what is out there in the world.
What are you trying to show us in the photo:
I was trying to capture pieces and bits of culture. America has its Applebee's and Culver's but have you walked into the smaller local restaurants? They've survived the modernization of food service and the culture is bright and alive inside their doors. I wanted to capture those small details of two opposite cultures.

A short explanation of what the photos are about:
On my home or while in a car ride I catch sight of colorful homes and random furniture left outside on the grass or some "random" place in which it doesn't belong.
A truck packed with beds and wooden furniture. A 'casa' of a lively yellow hue stands out as a passerby ignores its bold presence. An old stove is left outside a home's porch waiting to be dumped.
Why should we care about what we see:
We return to the theme of the daily. These sights are not uncommon to me and it's sort of a realization that every community has its different details and aspects that characterize it. As the photos show here, my "barrio" is filled with homes exploding in colors and "misplaced" pieces of furniture.
What are you trying to show us in the photo:
I am trying to show the individuality of small unwritten habits that the Latino community carries around.

A short explanation of what the photos are about:
I've come to the realization that it is my dad that does most of the grocery shopping now days since mom seems to be always working.
"Picking mangos" was a shot taken right next to my Dad's ear...he was getting annoyed :). "The 3 essentials" which sums up what is never missing in our grocery cart.
Why should we care about what we see:
Because of the appreciation to color in food. Have you thought about fruits and vegetables as more than food? It became a subject of form and color study. They were part of a living organism but now they will be consumed to continue that life. Trippy huh? Or maybe I'm just overthinking the simplicity of things...
What are you trying to show us in the photo:
I was trying to show the changes in my life that are not as obvious to who ever sees these images. They may not mean much to them but to me this is a routine...but said routine has a different variable this time.

I wondered alone into Menards and these were the results. Lights on the walls and ceilings. I explored photo editing like an amateur...
Why should we care about what we see:
The viewer should care about these images because they can also take pictures like these. Something we may see in our daily routines, add a filter, play with the contrast and saturation and there you go. What are the possibilities if we had a professional camera? We wouldn't know, not everyone can afford one but we all carry that piece of wires with a camera in our pockets. Make good use of it and capture something in an image.
What are you trying to show us in the photo:
The difference that photo editing can make as it amplifies the "grandeur" and shifts the mood of an image.

A short explanation of what the photos are about:
I am fascinated by thrift stores. Once in a while I go to look at the abandoned curiosities of humanity. A well-used Scorpios vinyl cover. I lined up al of the barbies in the toys section...I'm not sure of what I did once I took a step back. A kitchen towel which I found comical.
Why should we care about what we see:
Maybe you’ll also be sparked by curiosity by the items found in these places. There are random objects but with potential to make statements about a variety of things: music, socio-economic statuses, family, etc.
What are you trying to show us in the photo:
Besides my finding in this thrifty day, I wanted to show a latent statement about the representation of people of color when I lined up the dolls. I also wanted to show some new content in my photography by having an image with text in it.

I see these on the daily and I still find the patterns formed by the soap interesting. To me they look like a piece of the moon in my sink.
A pan with swirls of disturbed waters. The "comal" holding hundreds of bubbles.
Why should we care about what we see:
One should care because they're proof of my productivity. Multitasking was not easy...
Alright but on a more serious note, the close up to even the most annoying tasks can be beautiful if you know where to look. At least to me they are.
What are you trying to show us in the photo:
The element of water as a subject of photographic content but from the local vicinity of the kitchen as well as another snippet of my life.

Sun + Gold & Jewels = Eutonic Enigmas. My mother and I were waiting in the car and the sun was at it's peak when she pointed out the way the sunlight intensified the shimmer of our rings. I told her to place her hand on top of my mine and took the picture.
Why should we care about what we see:
Not quite sure if I’m honest. What do you see in the photo? Maybe you’ll care because it’s a portrayal of human connection. Perhaps the rings call your attention. Or you just find the contrast of our skin tones interesting considering that we share the same bloodline.
What are you trying to show us in the photo:
The way in which the sun impacts the temperature and tonality of the subjects in the photograph.

A short explanation of what the photos are about:
Thankfully I am not the only child in my household, meaning less days on me to wash dishes haha. The following images portray my only sister at a visit to the oculist, blowing out candles while the sun intensifies the form of the fog, sitting down at a local cafe for early brunch.
Why should we care about what we see:
The reason why I CARE about this images is because I'm capturing these "random moments" that i spent with my sister. In 10 years time I won't remember them but with these I got to explore behind the lens to capture my own blood in front of me as a subject of photography. It was more so for the sake of a personal safe keeping...
What are you trying to show us in the photo:
In the first image I tried to capture the contrast of the dark hued clothing and machine with that of the lighter walls. Second one, I tried to position myself at an angle in which I could capture the effect that the sun had on the apparition of the fog.

A short explanation of what the photos are about:
While sitting on a public bench at the park my eyes averted to the word marking its rough surface. On the way to an elementary school, a broken syringe laid in between the gravel. A walk through the park on a bright afternoon was perfect to find the bottom half of a decomposing bird.
Why should we care about what we see:
Because apparently you don't care.
I have seen so many women early in the morning screaming and tearing at their skin, getting into the cars of strangers. I saw a corpse and blood on the pavements outside my home of an 18 year old. The news channels are not comforting and I fear for my life to be taken away with the pull of a trigger while shopping at a local store. But what do you care...as long as you don't have to walk through the streets I walk then you don't know why you should care. Care because there's order in birth but no order in death. Care because our youth is growing up in this type of environment. Care because we won't wait any longer for you to care.
What are you trying to show us in the photo:
These I was debating about. I watered them down to be as gentle as possible on the viewer as possible. I don't live in the most cozy neighborhood, specially during these times. Through my lense I tried to show some sort of discomfort. The latent visual of violence and life in the streets.

1:04 am, another early morning accident outside my window, this routine is getting old.
Why should we care about what we see:
I'm tired. What else can I say to make you care about what happens around here?
What are you trying to show us in the photo:
Well, they say that images speak more than words. They also say that repetition vanishes the meaning of a word. If you say it too often (or you experience it too often) then eventually it means nothing.
The norm is set and so the law remain unmoved by the causalities. After all...they were just another person from the violent suburbs.

A flamingo in transition of position
Why should we care about what we see:
Due to the fact that it was not easy to capture the photos for this gallery, you should care to appreciate photographers more. A photograph tells a story. They are visual representations and bits and pieces of a moment that’ll be captured forever. Don’t overlook the effort that it takes.
What are you trying to show us in the photo:
I attempted to capture a transition, movement and some sort of stages. The flamingo did amazing, and I was lucky enough to have my camera ready when I did.
