The Mess You Made
An Exhibition by Andrea Chung
( Sept. 21st )
Held at the Hawthorn Contemporary, "The Mess You Made" was an interactive exposition of multiple 3 Dimensional pieces. Some of Chung's work was suspended in mid air as well as laid around the studio's floor. What fascinated me from the installation was the material that she used to create art, which many other people wouldn't even think of using sugar as an artistic tool of creation. |
Spectacular Vernacular

A Showcase of Creations by Tim Parsons & Jessica Charlesworth's
( Nov. 2nd )
In this exhibition there were multiple sculptural works and photographic displays of "industrial design backgrounds" which was the main focus of the whole exhibition. In regards of what it brought to me as a fellow viewer was the usage of already made objects and the way in which artists Parsons and Charlesworth gave them a new approach to repurpose their meaning and the way that it would be seen in our daily lives. |
Student & Alumni Work. During the tour we had the chance to observe the work of current students as MIAD.
The tour included studio principles of photography, figure drawing in a contemporary context, systems of drawing and communication design
We were also able to see work by Adam Osgood, a 2006 MIAD Graduate in Illustration.

Milwaukee Art Museum
A Teen Night
( Dec. 6th )
On the first Thursday of December, the Milwaukee Art Musuem opened its door to the teens of the community in which we would be able to do activities with clay, experiment with watercolors and ink as well as other artistic options available.
Thats night I was able to become a member so now Inhave access to MAM for free.
However the most memorable time of the night was walking around the floors of the museum. While exploring the distinct sculptures and painting as well as mixed media’s I came face to face with some of the world’s greatest works by artists that had studied in my sophomore year.
To see works by Monet, Renoir, Toulouse, Picasso and Smith seemed unreal to me. It must sound weird but it was an experience that brought me a deeper appreciation for all artists of classical and contemporary art movements.

UWSP Workshop & College Tour
( Dec. 7th )
|
While at UWSP, we began the day with a creative workshop in which we were given from 15 to 20 minutes to create a random letter chosen from a cup by our own hands.
Then we were given different types and varieties of materials to work with in order to create four different versions of the same letter. In my case it was the letter D. With it I experimented with: Color tissue papers Beads Shells/Bones Watercolors By the end of it, I went with a simple and minimalist design of a D composed by Korean characters done in pencil. |
The first place we went to while on tour was a room with a green screens and lighting set ups.
